Read the logs
The log is a running record of what ArenaDirector does. You usually do not open it during an event, but when the app does something you do not expect, look at the log first or send it to support.
Open Configuration and select Logs under Application.
Filter the view
The list updates in real time, with the newest entry on top. Each entry has a time, a level, a module and a message. The levels are Debug, Info, Warning and Error, and Error also covers critical and fatal entries.
| Control | Shows only |
|---|---|
| Search | The entries whose message, module or context has the text that you type |
| Level | The entries at the levels that you select |
| Module | One part of the application |
| Category | A smaller area in a module |
Clear filters appears while any filter is set and resets all of them. The number beside it shows how many entries match. If none match, the list says No log entries and offers Clear filters.
Copy the log for support
Select Copy for support to copy the entries you see now, oldest first, with a header that names the version and the computer. Paste the result into your message to support.
Clear the view
Clear logs… asks you to confirm, then removes all entries from the view. You cannot undo it, and support cannot see those entries afterwards. Clearing affects the view only: ArenaDirector keeps working the same way, and the log file on disk keeps the entries.
Report a problem
- Set Level to Warning.
- Look at the entries from the time the problem happened.
- Select Copy for support and send the result.
A Warning or Error entry with its time is much more useful than a description of the symptom, and it often shows the cause directly.
If you can make the problem happen again:
- Select Clear logs… and confirm.
- Do the steps that cause the problem.
- Select Copy for support.
You then send a clean record with no entries from earlier in the session.
