Tag sponsors

A sponsor is a named advertiser that you attach to a library media item. Plays of tagged media go into a play log, which you can export as proof of airtime.

You can tag only library items. See Add media.

Sponsors and the proof-of-play log are available on Pro. On lower plans, the Sponsors pane shows Pro required and Upgrade, and ArenaDirector records nothing. If you upgrade later, the log has no entries for matches played before the upgrade. See Plans and limits.

Add a sponsor

Open Configuration → Sponsors → Sponsors. The list on the left shows all sponsors; to find one, type part of its name in Filter. Selecting a sponsor opens its settings on the right. In a narrow window, you pick the sponsor from its name at the top.

  1. Select New sponsor. If you have no sponsors yet, select + Add sponsor.
  2. In General → Name, type the name exactly as it should read in reports, for example Mercedes-Benz.
  3. Optional: in Logo, select Choose… and pick an image file. The logo replaces the initial in the list and the name in the tile at the top of the pane.
  4. Optional: in Contact notes, type an account manager's email or a contract reference.

ArenaDirector keeps the logo for reports and never shows it on a canvas.

Each change is saved when you leave the field, select another sponsor or follow a link.

Check a sponsor

The line below the name shows the number of tagged media, the plays and the time on air over the last 30 days.

Last 30 days shows Plays, On air, Interrupted and Short of slot. A play coupled across several sections counts once. Interrupted and Short of slot turn orange when they are above 0. Proof of play → opens the Play log of Proof of play on Last 30 days, filtered by Sponsor to this sponsor.

Tagged media lists each media item tagged for this sponsor, with whole clip, the number of timed ranges, or image below it. A sponsor with no media shows No media tagged. Open in Library → opens the Library.

Delete a sponsor

  1. Select the sponsor.
  2. Select Delete sponsor….
  3. Check the number of media files, and then select Delete.

ArenaDirector removes the sponsor's tag from its media, and you cannot undo this. The sponsor's earlier play-log entries stay in the log as (deleted sponsor), so the record that the content played is kept.

Tag media

A sponsor can cover a whole clip or only part of one, and ArenaDirector logs both.

Whole-clip sponsors

  1. In the top bar, select the music note icon to open the Library.
  2. Select a media item. The details panel opens on the right.
  3. Open the Sponsors dropdown (Pro).
  4. Select each sponsor that covers the whole clip.

To remove all tags from the clip, clear every selection in the dropdown.

Each sponsor dropdown has a search field at the top; type part of a name to shorten the list. A sponsor hidden by the search stays selected.

If the clip has timed ranges, the panel shows + N timed ranges below the dropdown. To edit them, select Edit cues and sponsors and then the Sponsors tab.

ArenaDirector saves the changes automatically.

Timed ranges

Use a timed range when a sponsor owns only part of a clip, such as a 10 second sponsor slot in a 60 second reel.

The Sponsors tab appears on all plans. Below Pro it is disabled, with Pro required next to it.

  1. In the Library, select the clip.
  2. In the details panel, select Edit cues and sponsors, and then the Sponsors tab.
  3. Move the playhead to where the sponsor's part starts.
  4. Select + Add range at playhead. The range appears in the timeline and as a row in the table, and the inspector opens.
  5. In the inspector, set In and Out. Type the exact times, or move the playhead and select Set to playhead next to the time.
  6. Optional: drag a bar or its edges in the timeline to change the range. An edge snaps to a nearby edge of another range, to the start and end of the clip, and to the playhead.
  7. Optional: type a Label, which the report shows as the range's label.
  8. In Sponsors, select Add sponsor and pick one or more sponsors for the range. Select the × on a sponsor chip to remove it.
  9. When you are done, select Library to go back.

A time typed in In or Out is saved when you press Enter, select another range, switch tabs or go back to the library. It cannot be later than the end of the clip.

Select a free part of the timeline to move the playhead there, or drag on a free part of the range lanes to draw a new range. Selecting a row in the table selects the range and moves the playhead to its In time; if the clip is playing, it carries on from there. Turn the mouse wheel over the timeline to zoom in or out at the pointer, and swipe sideways or hold Shift to scroll. The Overview strip below the timeline shows all of the clip's ranges. Select a position on it to move the playhead there.

The inspector also has Play from here, Duplicate and Remove…. Duplicate puts a copy of the same length right after the range, and is not available for a range that ends at the end of the clip. The table lists the Label, In – Out, Length and Sponsors of each range. A range without a sponsor shows No sponsor and is not logged.

The first row of the table, Whole clip, holds the clip's whole-clip sponsors, the same ones as in the details panel dropdown. You cannot remove this row, and its times always cover the whole clip.

The Clip editor has no OK button. ArenaDirector saves each change as you make it, and the header shows Saved. Plays in report opens Proof of play.

Overlapping ranges appear on separate rows in the timeline. ArenaDirector logs each sponsor on a range for each pass. Times over one hour are edited the same way as shorter ones.

If you remove a range's only sponsor, the range stays with No sponsor, and ArenaDirector logs nothing for it.

If you have not created a sponsor yet, the tab shows No sponsors yet. Select Open Sponsors settings to add one. If the file's folder is offline, the header shows Not connected.

Images

An image has no timeline and no Clip editor, so it can only have whole-clip sponsors, which you set in the details panel. ArenaDirector logs each of the image's sponsors for the whole time the image is on screen.

See which media is tagged

On Pro, the library table has a Sponsors column; select its header to sort by it. Typing a sponsor's name in the library search shows each clip tagged for that sponsor.

Untagged media plays normally but stays out of the play log. Tag all media that needs proof of airtime, including sponsor stings on hot buttons outside a rotation.
