Take the show to another venue

You can keep one show and use it in more than one place. Each venue has its own outputs, cables and clock source, while your canvases, buses, hot buttons, sequences and media stay the same in every venue.

Switch to a venue​

  1. Open Configuration. Under Venue, select Patch.
  2. In the header, select the venue name. The venue menu opens.
  3. Select the venue. A ✓ marks the venue in use.

If nothing is playing and no picture or sound loses its output, the switch happens immediately. Otherwise the app asks first, in the Switch to …? dialog, which lists:

  • the items on air and the outputs they move to;
  • the items that play nowhere in the new venue.

Select Switch now to continue, or Cancel to stay. After the switch, a canvas or bus with no output in the new venue plays nowhere until you connect it on Patch. See Patch the show.

A venue that has all its outputs on this computer shows Matches in the venue menu. When the hardware matches a venue that is not in use, Patch shows Hardware looks like <venue>. Select Switch to use that venue.

Make a new venue​

  1. In the venue menu, select New venue…. You can also select + New venue on the Venues page.
  2. Type a Name.
  3. Under Start from, select one:
    • Hardware found here: the venue gets an output for each item you tick under Outputs to add.
    • Copy of the venue in use: the venue gets the same outputs and cables.
    • Empty: the venue has no outputs.
  4. Select Create and switch.

Manage the venues​

In the venue menu, select Manage venues…. The Venues page lists each venue. Select ← Patch to go back.

Switch toSwitches to the venue, as the venue menu does. The venue in use has no button.
RenameChanges the name in the row. Select Save to keep it, or Cancel.
DuplicateMakes a copy of the venue, with its outputs and cables.
Export…Saves the venue to a file.
Delete…Deletes the venue, its outputs and its cables after you confirm. Your show does not change. You cannot delete the venue in use.

To bring in a venue from another computer, select Import venue… and pick the file you exported there. Importing does not switch to the venue, and it skips any cable to a canvas or bus your show does not have.
