Run several matches

Switch between matches, create a match, or reuse one for the next game. For how matches work, see Matches.

Matches are part of overlays and are available on Club and higher plans. See Plans and limits.

The first time you open ArenaDirector after the update, your overlays, fields and teams are in one match, named after its two teams, for example Nordhafen – Kettwig. A show with fewer than two teams gets the name Match 1.

Switch to a different match

Open Overlays from the top bar. The active match appears at the top of the overlay list, under Match, with its sport and the current period, for example Handball · 2nd half.

  1. Select the match name to open the list of matches. The active match has a check mark and shows Now. The others show when you last used them.
  2. Select a match.

The overlay list, fields, teams and the Live values panel switch to that match, and each match keeps its own values.

While an overlay is on air, the list shows Take every overlay off air to switch matches. and you cannot pick a different match. Take the overlays off air first.

Create a match

  1. Select the match name, and then select + New match….

  2. In Name, type a name. If you pick the two teams first, the name fills in from the team names.

  3. In Sport, select the sport.

  4. Under Teams, select a team from the team store for each of the two positions. For a team that is not in the store, select New team… and type its name.

  5. Under Start from, select one of these options:

    OptionThe new match gets
    EmptyNo fields and no overlays.
Copy of a matchThe fields, team stats and overlays of the match you select in Match, without its values or penalties. The overlays show the teams you picked.
Sport scoreboardOne scoreboard for the sport on each canvas you select under Canvases.
  6. Select Create.

The new match becomes the active match. Create stays unavailable until you pick two teams, and until then the dialog shows Pick two teams to create the match. A copy keeps the sport of the match you copied. A Sport scoreboard needs a sport: when Sport is Other, the dialog shows Pick a sport for the scoreboard.

Use a match again for the next game

When the same home team plays again, keep the match and change the visitor.

  1. Next to the match name, select Match settings.
  2. Under Teams, open the list for the team you are replacing, and select the new team.
  3. If the team has recorded stats in this match, the app asks you to confirm. Select Replace team.
  4. Select Reset for next game…, and then select Reset.

The new team starts at the sport's start values. The replaced team loses its stats, penalties and players in this match. Controller keys you bound to that team position stay bound to it.

A reset puts all team stats, penalties, the period and all clocks back to their start values, and the confirmation shows what it clears. The fields, teams and overlays stay. You cannot reset a match while an overlay is on air.

Change the name, sport or penalty clock

  1. Next to the match name, select Match settings.
  2. Change Name, Sport or Penalty clock.
  3. Select Save.

If the new sport clears recorded stats, the app asks you to confirm, for example with Switch to Basketball. You cannot change the sport while an overlay is on air. To change the limits of the stats, select Sport settings… next to Sport. See Change the limits of a stat.

Duplicate or delete a match

  • To make a copy with the same teams and no values, open Match settings and select Duplicate. The copy does not become the active match.
  • To delete the active match, open Match settings and select Delete…. Read the confirmation, and then select Delete match.
warnung

Delete a match only when you no longer need its overlays. Deleting a match removes its overlays, and hot buttons and sequence cues lose their directives for them.

You cannot delete a match while an overlay is on air, and you cannot delete the last match. After a delete, the match you used most recently becomes active.
